Corporate Profile
Community
Honda Australia supports a number of community based initiatives and charities through involvement in their various fundraising efforts.
Honda's charities of choice include the Lighthouse Foundation and the Children's Cancer Institute Australia for Medical Research.
Lighthouse Foundation
Lighthouse Foundation provides long term accommodation and intensive support for young people who may otherwise be homeless. The young people live within a family environment for as long as it takes, supporting all dimensions of their lives with a lifetime membership to the extended Lighthouse Family.
The core philosophy centres on relationships and community, providing young people with an environment where they are trusted, challenged, and can thrive.
The Lighthouse Foundation operate homes across Victoria that accommodate up to six young people and two live-in carers. The carers provide 24-hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week support. A voluntary community committee supports each home with fundraising and assistance.

The Snowy Ride
The Snowy Ride is a motorcycle event run annually in the Alpine Region of NSW with the aim of involving motorcycle riders from all over Australia to raise money for Childhood Cancer Research.
The first Snowy Ride was launched in 2001 as a request from Steven Walter, a young man who lost his fight against cancer. Steve loved motorcycle riding and asked that a charity motorcycle ride be organised to raise funds for cancer research and cancer care, “So that one day no other kid will have to go through what I’ve been through”.
Children's Cancer Institute Australia for Medical Research
The Children's Cancer Institute Australia for Medical Research (CCIA) is the only independent medical research institute in Australia dedicated
to research into the causes, cure and prevention of childhood cancer.
The CCIA vision is to be a leader in preventing cancer, to find new ways of curing cancer in children through world-class research, to ensure the best possible quality of life for these children and their families, to share the vision with others and to increase awareness, participation and funding.
CCIA was founded in May 1976 by dedicated group of parents and doctors of children with cancer.
Since the construction of our first laboratory in 1984, CCIA’s research effort has grown to encompass seven major research programs. These research programs undertake basic, preclinical and clinical studies that represent a broad and well-integrated approach directed at improving the outcome of all children with cancer.
Purchase An Entertainment Book To Help Homeless Kids
Honda Australia - in conjunction with the Lighthouse Foundation - recently established a "Honda Home" in the northern suburbs of Melbourne. The Home provides much needed accommodation for young people who would otherwise be homeless due to a variety of reasons. The house is currently providing food, shelter and a loving, family environment for four young people.
As part of Honda's commitment, the fundraising committee for the Honda Home aims to raise at least $20,000 per annum to assist with "incidentals" of running this kind of establishment.
The Committee is therefore now selling the new edition of the 2009/2010 Entertainment Book (in all states where it is available), with a portion of the proceeds to go directly to the Home. If you are not familiar with the Book and/or want to confirm the regions that are covered, please visit: www.entertainmentbook.com.au. The Book offers fantastic savings on a variety of fine and casual dining, hotels, sightseeing, health and beauty establishments and more.
The Entertainment Book can only be purchased through authorised fundraising groups and is available now. The books are valid from date of release until 1 June 2010 and provide special 25 to 50% off and 2-for-1 offers from many of the best restaurants, hotels and attractions throughout Australia and New Zealand.
