Honda MXTV Family Charity Ride Raises Funds For Kids With Cancer

6 November 2008 – The Honda MXTV Family Charity Ride was held recently for the second year running with over 250 enthusiastic trail bike riders making their way to Bulahdelah, NSW.

The objective of the weekend, explains event organiser Rod Cartwright, is to give families the opportunity to have fun together regardless of their riding level.

“We make sure there’s something for riders of all ages and experience.”

“We had a nipper’s loop for all the kids on mini bikes as well as a grass track and a short enduro loop for the older kids and newer riders,” said Mr Cartwright.

“The adult riders had three forest loops to choose from, including a 45km easy ride to a more extreme 75 km circuit, and we are really lucky that some of the locals allow us to use their property for their event; it’s a fantastic spot!”

The event raised over $2000 for the Steven Walter Foundation, a group within the Children’s Cancer Institute of Australia who also receive funds via the annual Honda sponsored “Snowy Ride” that takes place throughout the Alpine region of NSW in November.

Another $1000 was donated to the local Coolongolook Fire Brigade and the Equestrian Club.

A very excited Blake Ritter was the winner of a brand new Honda CFR50, making it a day to remember for more than one reason.

“He was absolutely blown away; you could not have picked a better winner if you tried. Not only was it Blake’s birthday but his bike had been playing up all weekend and it was definitely time to upgrade,” said Mr Cartwright.

“The success of this year’s event has guaranteed that it will be back October 2009 for the third year.”
