Kyle Pacey takes out WA Grom’s on the Gas

16 October 2008 - A sold out WA leg of the Honda Grom’s on the Gas Competition provided the strongest entrant numbers for the whole season.

The final round of the competition being held at Western Australia’s Byford circuit, one of the only hard packed tracks on the west coast, proved to be one of the most hotly contested battles of the year.

When the points were tallied at the end of day two it was young 13 year old Honda rider Kyle Pacey who came up trumps on his CRF 150R with consistent finishes in all four categories.

Pacey scored in the top three in the public speaking, ‘on bike’ technique, lap time and fitness sectors.

“I was a bit nervous about the public speaking but felt confident in the ‘on bike’ categories,” said Kyle Pacey.

“I know I have a bit of work to do for the ‘Final Showdown’ coming up in a few weeks.”

Pacey’s main competition came in the form of arch rival Luke Collier.

“I expected Luke to do extremely well as he is so comfortable in all four categories, however he stumbled a bit in the public speaking today,” said event organiser Lee Hogan.

“It was great to watch these boys battle it out though.”

With all seven state rounds of the Honda Grom’s on the Gas Competition now completed, we are only left with the big one.

The ‘Final Showdown’ to be held at the Bacchus Marsh circuit just west of Melbourne where all seven boys will go head to head to see who will be crowned our first ever Honda ‘Grom’s on the Gas’ for 2008.

The big winner will be heading along-side Lee Hogan to Las Vegas in April 2009 to contest the World Mini Grand Prix.
