Peterson Impressive In His National Debut!

April 7, 2009 - Thor Honda Smart Youth Development Rider Dylan Peterson had an impressive debut in round 1 of the Under 19 MX Nationals.

The flying youngster from the Sunshine Coast stepped up to the under 19's class for the opening round of the Championship at Wodonga over the weekend (April 4-5th) and immediately bagged a pair of 3rd positions on his way to third overall.

The intense action was close in all three races.

Following the example of Pro Open series leader Todd Waters, Peterson was never off the pace and used his state championship winning experience to battle with top Yamaha riders Josh Cachia and Luke Styke.

On a technical and heavily rutted track, Peterson showed great focus and maturity to finish 3rd in moto 1, just 16 seconds behind the race winner. With problems in the second moto relegating him to 5th position, Peterson again showed true grit and determination to bounce back in the final race to claim another 3rd spot.

Peterson now sits in 3rd position in the under 19's Championship on 56 points, just 16 points shy of series leader Josh Cachia.

“The new CRF 250 is awesome, I am happy with my result, its going to be a long championship and I want to be their in the end. Glen Bell has been working with me and I feel fit and ready for round 2. I will be working on my starts and bike setup in preparation for Canberra”.

The second round of the Australian MX Nationals will be held at Fairburn Park, ACT on Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th of April.
