Honda’s Maxwell Ends Supersport Campaign on the Podium

20 October 2008 - Teknic Honda’s Supersport pilotWayne Maxwell was on the pace at a scorching final round of the Australian Championships last weekend at Eastern Creek.

After qualifying on pole position – his first for the year at an ASC round - Maxwell stepped up to the podium for the second time this season with a second place after strong rides in both races.

The added points allowed the Victorian rider to claim third overall for the series in his first full factory Honda ride on board the 2008 CBR600RR.

“I’m happy overall with the outcome for this year and a big thank you to the Teknic Honda Team for their support. We were all working toward a common goal and I think we achieved some great results.”

“I want to make a special mention of my sponsors, particularly Shane Trovato of Oleon Oils and Pirelli, as they all played a big part in my effort this year,” Maxwell said.

“I’m looking forward to 2009 and moving on to even bigger and better things!”

Team Manager Paul Free said Wayne’s final result was a well deserved one after plenty of hard work throughout the season.

“Wayne’s weekend was a bit up and down in the hot conditions, but he was certainly quick. He qualified on pole after only two laps and was able to lead for a substantial amount of time in both races.”

“Unfortunately that didn’t translate to wins, but third overall is a very respectable result for him and the Team, and is an added bonus on top of our other successes in 2008.”
