Trim Time Slashed With Honda Hedgecutter

6 October, 2008 - The increasing popularity of fast growing screening hedges in an effort to block out neighbouring houses in high density areas, is creating some challenges for homeowners once the plants have matured.

Varieties including James Stirling and various Lilly Pillys are capable of growing up to a metre per year in ideal conditions, and soon require trimming to keep looking tidy, particularly if grown in a formal garden.

Honda's HHH25D Hedgecutter is the world's first four-stroke hedgecutter and makes light work of this laborious task by quickly and efficiently reducing cutting time.  As the name suggests, the Hedgecutter is suitable for heavy duty cutting and can safely slice through branches up to 8 mm thick, considerably more than a traditional hedgetrimmer.

Powered by Honda's renowned 0.81 kW, 360 degree inclinable GX25 mini four-stroke engine as featured in its garden shed companions, the HHB25 Leaf blower and UMK425 Brushcutter, the GX25 provides smooth power delivery no matter what the angle.

Another innovative feature of Honda's Hedgecutter is the triple action cutting system and vibration-reducing frame which dramatically decreases fatigue during operation.

The unit also uses a large easy-to-grip handle that can be rotated from centre to 90 degrees left and right, to provide a comfortable operating position to suit all tasks.

The 720 mm long cutting blade on the HHH25D is double sided and designed to allow the operator to cut in both left and right directions, minimising job time and ensuring a smooth, even finish.

According to Honda Power Equipment Manager, Ray Briffa, the HHH25D is easy to use and extremely responsive.

"The easy-starting Hedgecutter provides brisk blade acceleration and instant throttle response delivering plenty of power from idle," Mr Briffa said.

"The HHH25D offers the gardener many benefits over its two-stroke competitors. Featuring advanced four-stroke technology, the Hedgecutter is extremely fuel-efficient and produces considerably less exhaust emissions than a two-stroke, while noise emission levels are the lowest in its class.

"In the long term, the savings made from reduced fuel consumption particularly at today's fuel prices, coupled with Honda's renowned durability provides excellent whole of life costing," he said.

As well as these environmental and cost benefits, the HHH25D is light and compact, tipping the scales at a very manageable 6.9 kg, a weight comparable with the two-stroke trimmers.

But unlike its two-stroke counterparts, the HHH25D will start easily every time, thanks to an exhaust side decompressor, a low-load recoil starter and superior four-stroke engine technology.

"Overall the Honda Hedgecutter is well suited for both the domestic green thumb and the professional gardening contractor, providing reliable and efficient cutting for the most robust of hedges," Mr Briffa said.

"Only Honda offers a dedicated advanced four-stroke garden care range which includes lawnmowers, brushcutters, tillers, and a hedgecutter and leafblower."

The Honda HHH25D is available from Honda Power Equipment Dealers at a recommended retail price of $799.00.
