Honda Celebrates 500,000th Lawnmower With Giveaway
September 14, 2009 - Leading four-stoke power equipment manufacturer, Honda, will soon produce its 500,000th lawnmower at its Honda Manufacturing Australia (HMA) plant in Melbourne, and will celebrate by giving away an advanced four-stroke garden care package including the milestone lawnmower.
HMA began manufacturing lawnmowers in February 1988 with a daily output of 65 units. It now has capacity to produce over 320 units per day, providing quality mowers for both domestic and international markets.
According to Honda Power Equipment Sales Manager Ray Briffa, the production of half a million lawnmowers is strong proof of the popularity of Honda mowers and the faith and satisfaction consumers have in the brand.
"Honda lawnmowers have earned an outstanding reputation for reliability and performance over the years, and they are in high demand both locally and overseas leading to these high production numbers," Mr Briffa said.
t of the current pressures affecting Australia's manufacturing sector. At a time when local manufacturing is increasingly being overlooked in favour of overseas production, Honda is pleased that activity at HMA is going from strength to strength.
"HMA produces 11 different lawnmower models, five brushcutter models and employs over 30 staff. As well as supplying the domestic market, products are exported to New Zealand, South Africa, Egypt, India, the Middle East, the South Pacific and parts of Asia.
"This success also goes to show that it is possible for Australia to produce top quality products and compete on the global stage."
To mark the special occasion, Honda will reward the lucky purchaser of the 500,000th mower (to be identified at the production line by the serial number) with a garden care package consisting of a UMS425 bentshaft brushcutter, a HHB25 leafblower and a HHH25D hedgecutter. The winner will also be reimbursed for the purchase price of the lawnmower for a total maximum prize value of over $3,500.
The garden care package features the latest in Honda advanced four-stroke technology offering lower noise and exhaust emissions, low fuel consumption, reliability and Honda's renowned easy-starting capabilities.
To enter the prize draw, entrants must purchase a Honda lawnmower from any participating registered Honda dealership in Australia and keep their copy of the Honda Sales Registration Form.
The competition runs from 15 September 2009 until 15 February 2010. Winners will be notified via letter and email and details will be published in The Australian newspaper and on the Honda website on 1 March 2010.
